Create first Google Business post

20–30 minutes to write and refine. Impact: medium Effort: low

Google Business posts are short updates — offers, news, events, tips — that appear right on your profile in Maps and search. Posting regularly is the work here.

Posts keep your profile active (a freshness signal Google notices), occupy more space in your listing, and put offers in front of people at the moment they're deciding. A profile that posts weekly looks alive and engaged; a silent one looks neglected.

How to do it

  1. 1
This is your your first Google Business post.
The first post breaks the seal and starts the freshness signal.
  2. 2
    Pick something worth saying
An offer, a finished project, a seasonal tip, an FAQ answer, or an event. It doesn't need to be big — just real and useful to a potential customer.
  3. 3
Write it short with one clear point
A sentence or two, a good photo, and one call to action ('Call for a free estimate'). Work in your service and location naturally.
  4. 4
    Post it from your profile
In the Business Profile, use the 'Add update' / posts section. Add the photo and a button if relevant.
  5. 5
    Keep a simple cadence
Aim for one post a week. Batch a few ideas at once so you're never scrambling. Consistency matters more than perfection.
  6. 6
What matters most on THIS platform
Make your first post a strong one: a finished project photo or a current offer, two sentences, and a 'Call for a free estimate' button. It's the template you'll reuse — get it looking good once.

Common mistakes

How you'll know it's done

You've published a real post with a photo and a clear call to action, and you have a simple weekly cadence to keep them coming.
