Run a Google Business Profile performance review

30 minutes. Impact: medium Effort: low

Running a performance review of your Business Profile using the built-in Insights/Performance data — seeing how people find and act on your listing, then adjusting.

Your profile tells you exactly what's working: which searches surface you, how many call, request directions, or visit your site. Reviewing it turns guesswork into decisions. Most owners never look; the ones who do pull ahead.

How to do it

  1. 1
    Open the Performance/Insights section
In the Business Profile manager, find 'Performance' — calls, messages, direction requests, website clicks, and the searches that surfaced you.
  2. 2
    Read the search terms
The actual queries people used to find you reveal exactly what brings people to you — use that language in your description, posts, and categories.
  3. 3
    Spot what drives action
Compare calls vs. clicks vs. directions. High views but low actions means photos, reviews, or offer need work. If a term converts, lean in.
  4. 4
Make one or two concrete changes
Adjust something specific — add a category you're surfacing for, post about a high-intent service, improve weak photos — then re-check next month.
