Turn mentions of your business into links

1 hrImpact: highEffort: low

Find pages that already mention your business by name but don’t link to your website, and get the link added.

The hard part, being mentioned, already happened. Adding the link is a small ask, and on profiles you control you can do it yourself in minutes.

How to do it

  1. 1
Search for your business name in quotes
Search Google for “Your Business Name” and also with your town. Skip your own site and social profiles.
  2. 2
    Fix the ones you control
Listings, member pages, supplier entries, event pages you created: log in and add your website address.
  3. 3
    Ask politely where you don’t
For an article or blog post, send one short, friendly note to the writer thanking them for the mention and asking if they’d add a link so readers can find you.
  4. 4
Set up an alert for future mentions
Create a Google Alert for your business name so new mentions reach you while they are fresh.

Common mistakes

How you will know it is done

Every profile you control links to your site, and you have asked for a link on the recent mentions you don’t control.
