Identify and claim your profiles on 5 review sites

20–30 minutes to write and refine. Impact: critical Effort: medium

Setting up your presence on the review sites that matter — claiming the profiles, filling them out completely, and making them look professional. The groundwork that everything else in reviews builds on.

You can't earn reviews on a profile you don't control or that looks half-finished. A claimed, complete, professional profile is both a trust signal to customers and the foundation reviews land on. Incomplete or unclaimed profiles leak trust and often can't even be managed — get this right first.

How to do it

  1. 1
This is your claiming your profiles on the key review sites.
Claiming is step one — you can't manage what you don't control.
  2. 2
Find the review sites that matter for you
Start with the universal ones (Google, and Facebook if relevant) plus the platforms your specific industry and customers actually use. You don't need every site — you need the handful your buyers actually check.
  3. 3
    Claim and verify each profile
Search for an existing listing first and claim it (don't create duplicates); if none exists, create one. Complete whatever verification the platform requires — an unverified profile can't be fully managed.
  4. 4
    Fill every profile out completely
Name, categories, description, hours, contact, website, services — every field. Keep your name, address, and phone identical across all of them (consistency is a trust and ranking signal). A complete profile outperforms a bare one.
  5. 5
    Make it look professional
Add real, high-quality photos — logo, storefront, team, work. A profile with good images reads as legitimate and cared-for before a single word is read.
  6. 6
What matters most on THIS platform
Identify the review platforms that matter for your business (the universal ones plus your industry's) and claim your profile on each — around five is a solid target. Search for existing listings first so you claim rather than duplicate.

Common mistakes

How you'll know it's done

You've claimed and verified your profiles on the review sites that matter to your business, filled each out completely with consistent info, and added professional photos.
