Conducting and publishing original research or a survey produces genuinely new data — not a summary of others' findings — that becomes real, citable source material other content (and AI systems) can reference.

Original data is inherently more valuable to cite than secondary commentary, since anyone discussing your topic eventually needs a primary source, and original research makes you that source.
